Harrisburg, PA – Projects to improve roads, bridges, and downtowns across Schuylkill County have secured state grants totaling almost $2.5 million from the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF), as announced by Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) on March 26, 2024.

"This funding represents a substantial commitment to bolstering our community’s economic growth and enhancing our multimodal transportation system," stated Twardzik regarding the grants. He also expressed gratitude, saying, "I extend my sincere gratitude to all involved in securing this funding, especially Sen. David Argall whose steadfast efforts have greatly contributed to advancing our state’s development." Twardzik added, "I eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on our residents’ daily lives."

The projects receiving grants include various improvements such as repairing sidewalks in Frackville Borough, making improvements to State Route 61 in West Mahanoy Township, and enhancing streetscapes along the Parkway section of State Route 443 in Schuylkill Haven Borough.

These grants were approved during a public meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the MTF. The MTF, established by the General Assembly, aims to provide funding that encourages economic development and ensures a safe, reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents.
